Fresh peanuts grow at the end of green shoots, called pegs. The Peanut pods grow underground at the end of the pegs and develop hard tough outer shells. Each light tan Peanut pod contains an average of 2 or 3 white seeds shrouded in pale brown skins. Fresh Peanuts do not need to be cooked before consuming and offer a mild, buttery flavour, with a slightly starchy texture.
